Charming courtyard garden, unique themed decor, rich historical context
The noise from events is rather bothersome!!! the steep stairs could hinder guests with mobility challenges, making it less accommodating for everyone!!!

Ian, the host, provided a warm welcome with plenty of historical anecdotes about the Duke of Buckingham and Henry VIII, making us feel right at home. The 'Dukes Bed Chambers' room had a charming vintage bath, adding a unique touch to our stay. The continental breakfast was refined, offering a delightful variety of options. I particularly enjoyed the cozy atmosphere in the bar area, perfect for mingling with locals. I wished for a cooked breakfast option for more variety. The shower setup could be updated, as I found it a bit awkward to access the kettle in the spacious bathroom. it's a gem with lots of character, but a few adjustments could elevate the experience further.

Just a decent option for a brief pause in Portsmouth with value for money. The staff were really friendly and attentive throughout our stay. Try to book a room away from the noisy courtyard if you're sensitive to sound.

Ye Spotted Dogge is a perfect base for exploring Portsmouth. We took our daughter on a weekend getaway, and the live firing of the WWII Howitzer at 1pm was a thrilling treat for the whole family, making our trip unforgettable.
My kids wished for a larger menu at breakfast.

The decor was a standout, integrating charming vintage elements that evoke the area's history. While the continental breakfast offered a delicious assortment of fresh fruits and pastries, some dishes could benefit from more variation. Although the steep stairs were a challenge for mobility access, the hospitality of the staff made our experience enjoyable and welcoming.
